Eastern Market

I grew up in Capitol Hill, Washington DC and I was saddened to hear about the fire at Eastern Market yesterday.  I have many fond memories of the Market Day celebration and shopping at Eastern Market.
Interestingly enough there was also a fire at the Georgetown Branch of DCPL at the same time, which is interesting as I am a librarian as well.  I didn’t work at DCPL but I did visit it frequently as a child and that’s where I learned to crochet!

I hope these two historic buildings and their contents are up and running soon so more people can enjoy them.

Hey, have you heard the Dar Williams version of Comfortably Numb (from her cd My Better Self)? Love it!

I was saddened to hear the news yesterday as well. My hubby works on the Hill, and I have always wanted to visit the Market… That’ll have to wait now.

And for the library, I think I read somewhere that alot of their collection was damaged and irreplaceable. A terrible loss.
