I have got to go to bed, but just want to keep on knitting! I did get about 3 hours of sleep last night and about the same the night before so I’m exhausted.
Those of you who read them all, Knitter’s Review, Knitty Coffeeshop, and Craftster might have noticed I posted basically the same question everywhere: is it possible to do ribbing vertically? I suspect the answer is no, but I’d love to know for sure.
Today I was working on my 7 x 7 is sweater which is a side-to-side pattern. I’m done with the first sleeve and was ready to put in the bottom ribbing when I realized I probably couldn’t do ribbing that way, and would have to pick up stitches and add it later. Am I right?
Okay, off to bed. The kids did sleep pretty well last night, it was me that was up.

I’m thinking you’re going to have to pick up stitches or do a border in garter stitch which would be kind of a ribbing.
Row 1: knit
Row 2: purl
Row 3: purl
Row 4: knit
start over, and you have an 2×2 horizontal rib (I am assuming that is what you want, the vertical rib is just k2, p2)
