Back to the “I don’t know how you do it” angle, apparently salary.com has estimated that a stay-at-home mom should be paid approximately $132K a year, according to this Yahoo news article. Of course no one is going to pay me that much but I would take it
I guess the good news is that I don’t have to pay someone else that amount to watch my kids when I know I couldn’t make that much if I were working. I read a really interesting book relatively recently that estimated how much you spend if you work and then pay for day care and the difference in how much you take home was almost negligible. I probably make that much working at home with my two part time jobs.
The sahm / work outside the home question is so difficult and it really sucks that we’ve come this far only to be pitted against each other yet again. Speaking of which, the baby is crying, so this “break” is over.
