Here’s an update of my knitting projects, since they change daily and I don’t have the time yet to set up one of those fill bars for works in progress. DS3’s baby blanket, maybe 20% done. Secret Mother’s Day project, 1/7 of the way done (what percentage is that? Anyway, it’s more like 2/15ths). Father’s Day tie 2004, 33% done, approximately. New sweater design, not even 1% done (I keep redesigning it in my head). A Good Bias shrug, have pattern, need to buy yarn. Does anyone have a yarn they would suggest to replace Mission Falls 1824 Cotton? It is discontinued, and I hate knitting with it anyway.

One more question — as part of my secret Mother’s Day project, I am working on square 34 of Barbara Walker’s “Learn to Knit Afghan”. This is only my 2nd time attempting cables and even though I pull them really tight I still have a hole where the yarns cross over. Is this standard, or will I get better and the hole will go away eventually? The front looks cool enough so far.

Other than knitting, since I’m sick I should be sleeping but our neighbors are out playing basketball in their court (otherwise known as 1/3 of their backyard which faces ours) and keeping me awake. And the kids are asleep so wouldn’t you know my only chance at a nap is foiled.

Elspeth, I just used some DK weight yarn that I had in my stash that I thought would look great. It’s Rowan DK Soft that was discontinued about three years ago. I think almost any nice sportweight or DK weight yarn would be beautiful. On Knitterpated’s blog, who is hosting the KAL, the March 28 post mentions other yarns people are using for the Good Bias shrug.

Would love to see all of your projects.
I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for the suggestions and encouragement! I will look at the post and see if there are other good yarns to start it with. I can’t wait for my Knitpicks yarn to come so I can try it out!
